Controls

There are nine different control methods available for use in standard Real Racing 3 race Events.

Tilt A: Steer by tilting your device, brake by touching the screen. Acceleration occurs automatically.

Tilt B: Steer by tilting your device. Accelerate by touching the right side of the screen, brake by touching the left side of the screen.

Tilt C: Steer by tilting your device. Accelerate by touching the bottom of the screen, brake by touching the top of the screen.

Tilt C (flipped): Steer by tilting your device. Accelerate by touching the top of the screen, brake by touching the bottom of the screen.

Wheel A: Steer by sliding the wheel left and right on the left side of the screen. Brake by touching the right side of the screen. Acceleration occurs automatically.

Wheel A (flipped): Steer by sliding the wheel left and right on the right side of the screen. Brake by touching the left side of the screen. Acceleration occurs automatically.

Wheel B: Steer by sliding the wheel left and right on the left side of the screen. Accelerate and brake by touching the right side of the screen.

Wheel B (flipped): Steer by sliding the wheel left and right on the right side of the screen. Accelerate and brake by touching the left side of the screen.

Buttons: Steer left and right by touching the left and right sides of the screen, brake by touching the middle of the screen. Acceleration occurs automatically.

Sensitivity: The sensitivity setting defines how much you need to tilt your device or touch the screen in order to steer your car. A low sensitivity will require exaggerated tilting or touching to turn the car.

Drag Race Controls: Drag racing features different controls to standard racing. Tap the "Launch" button to begin the drag race, then change gears by tapping the up/down gear controls on the left and right. Keep an eye on your tachometer to ensure smooth gear changes.

Game Controller

Real Racing 3 features fully integrated support for game controllers in Android 4.1 and above. To use the controller, attach it to your device and a pop-up message will inform you of the connection. You will now be able to drive your car with the game controller. Note that the controller is only active while racing and navigating the user interface still requires the use of the touchscreen.

The game controller maintains your chosen control method whilst providing additional input choices. For example, you could be using Tilt B and steer by tilting the device while using the controller buttons to accelerate and brake.

Heads-Up Display (HUD)

The HUD displays vital information while youre racing. Specific information varies depending on the type of Event currently being played, but the HUD will often include a minimap, current speed, a timer, position and current lap count. If youd prefer not having this information on screen during the race you can turn it off in the Settings menu.

Camera

There are 4 different camera views available in Real Racing 3 bumper, bonnet, cockpit, and a behind the car chase view. To switch your camera view, tap the top right corner of the screen while you are racing.

Pausing

To pause the game during a race, tap the top left corner of the screen. In the pause menu you can choose to resume racing, retire from the race, or access the Settings menu.

Assists

If youre new to Real Racing 3 it is recommended you use the Steering, Traction and Brake assistance features. By default they are enabled. When you become more experienced we recommend turning the assist features off to have more control over your car.

Slipstreaming

Closely following behind another car will boost the speed of your car, an effect called Slipstreaming. Slipstreaming is only available in some events.

Cars

Classes

There are three main classes of cars available in Real Racing 3 Production (Class P), Race (Class R), and Supercar (Class S).

Car Unlocking

To gain access to the cars featured in Real Racing 3 you must play through the events and earn Trophies. Most cars can be unlocked in a couple of different ways - find the car you want and tap on the info button for details on unlocking it. Once you've unlocked a car you can purchase it.

All new cars are also added to a Round in the Season, which allows you new ways to unlock them. If you attempt to earn a car through an event in a Round, and run out of time to do so, the car is still unlocked for you to purchase. Alternatively, any cars within a Round are automatically unlocked when that Round ends.

Car Buying

Before you can buy a car you must unlock it. Once it's unlocked there are a number of ways you can purchase it. While browsing through the cars that are allowed to participate in an event you can also purchase them. On the Main Menu, tap the button with three cars as its icon, located on the panel at the top of the screen. Here you can browse all of the manufacturers and their available models. Most cars take time to deliver - you can have them delivered instantly using Gold.

VIP Service

Purchasing VIP service for a car means that the car is delivered instantly, and that all upgrades you purchase for that car are also completed instantly. You can purchase VIP service for a car as you're buying the car, or from the Upgrades section.

Performance Rating (PR)

Performance Rating, or PR, is a good overall indication of the performance of a car. A higher PR means a higher performing car. A car's PR can be increased by purchasing upgrades.

Most Cup events have a specific PR requirement that must be met in order to participate. If your car does not meet the requirement, consider purchasing upgrades to increase the PR, or purchase a different car with a higher PR that meets or exceeds the requirement. Winning a gold trophy in a Cup will remove the PR requirements, allowing you to race any car in the series regardless of its PR rating.

Car Damage

Colliding and driving off-track can cause damage to your car. This damage will affect your car's performance, causing it to accelerate more slowly, have a worse stopping distance, etc. Incurring damage also reduces your Clean Race Bonus. Your car is automatically repaired after the Clean Race Bonus is awarded.

Servicing

As you drive a car it gradually degrades and requires servicing. If you drive off-road, you will need to service your car more often. Failure to service a car will signficantly worsen its performance. Servicing a car takes time, but the Servicing can be completed instantly using Gold.

Respray

Many cars can be resprayed a variety of colors. This can be done via My Cars (tap the button at the top of the Main Menu that features a car icon and a count of the cars owned), or while youre selecting a car prior to an Event, by tapping the Respray button.

Upgrades

Upgrading parts on your car helps to boost your performance. Upgrades can affect four different performance stats: Top Speed, Acceleration (060mph time), Braking Distance (600mph), and Grip (lateral Gs). Upgrading your car increases its PR (Performance Rating), which is sometimes necessary in order to participate in Cup events that have a PR requirement.

Upgrades can be purchased for R$ or Gold, or M$ for some Motorsports cars. All upgrades purchased with R$ take time to research and develop, unless you have purchased VIP service for the relevant car, in which case they're completed instantly. If you do not have VIP service for the car, the upgrade's research and development can be accelerated using Gold. All Gold upgrades are always completed instantly.

Tuning

Tuning is available for select Motorsports Content. Tuning your car affects all four performance stats within a Special Event. Tuning your car increases its PR (Performance Rating), which can be necessary in order to participate in Special Events.

Tuning Steps can be purchased with M$ and Gold. All Tuning Steps take time to install, unless you have purchased VIP Servicing for the car—Tuning Steps will be installed immediately. If you do not have VIP Servicing for the car, the install time can be accelerated by using M$, Gold or watching a video (where available).

Tuning Setups

Every Special Event that features Tuning has its own unique Tuning Setup. Each Tuning Setup is tailored to a specific track, and has different limits on how many times you can increase each stat. Completing a Special Event that includes a Tuning Setup will unlock that Setup for use outside of the Special Event (though these Setups cant be used within other Special Events). Unlocked Tuning Setups can be used on any car within the same motorsport and season (e.g. unlocking a Tuning Setup for a Season 7 Formula E car will allow you to use this Setup on any other Season 7 Formula E car). You can tune and switch between unlocked Setups in the Tuning Setups Inventory.

Motorsports Drivers

Select Motorsports have the ability to assign a Driver to a car. Drivers increase the baseline performance stats of their assigned car based off their level.

Drivers accumulate XP from racing. When a Driver has enough XP, they may enter training to level up. Training uses Gold, and is completed instantly.

Motorsports Team Principals

Select Motorsports will allow you to level up each cars Team Principal. Team Principals earn XP every time you tune their car, or switch between Tuning Setups. Every time you level up a Team Principal, you may choose which stat you would like to increase.

Events

Event Progression

More Series than you can count make up a multi-faceted, lengthy career. Spread across the Series are hundreds of Tiers each comprising up to three individual race events!

Winning Trophies is the key to advancing in Real Racing 3. Earning Trophies gains you access to new Series, Tiers, and cars. Each Series is unlocked by earning enough Trophies in the previous Series, while Tiers are unlocked by earning enough Trophies within the current Series. Alternatively, Tiers can be unlocked using Gold. Cars are unlocked by earning enough Trophies to unlock a Showcase Tier that features that car. Upon unlocking the Showcase Tier you will be given a one-time discount offer for the car.

Each new Trophy you earn contributes to the Series completion percentage, which will earn you bonus R$ and Gold when you hit 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% completion for a Series.

Some of the events in the game are "bonus" Series in that they aren't essential to complete in order to unlock all the cars and reach the pinnacle of your Real Racing 3 career. However, participating in bonus Series will often gain you access to cars before you would have unlocked them in the main career Series. They're also a good source of extra R$ and Gold thanks to the Series completion bonuses you can earn.

Season Events

All new Road Collection series can be found in one of the Season groups. To unlock one of these series you must own one of the cars that can participate in it.

Event Types

There are 10 different types of Events in Real Racing 3: Cup, Elimination, Head To Head, Autocross, Endurance, Speed Record, Speed Snap, Drag Race, Hunter, and Time Trial. Each Event Type has unique rules and win conditions.

Cup

This is the default race type that makes up the bulk of the game. It is a standard race featuring up to 22 cars competing over a specified number of laps (normally 1-6).

Most Cup events have a PR (Performance Rating) requirement for entry. If your current car does not meet the PR requirement, you can upgrade it or purchase a new one. Winning a gold trophy in a Cup will remove the PR requirements, allowing you to race any car in the series regardless of its PR rating.

Elimination

A race featuring 8 competitors, wherein every 20 seconds the competitor in last place is eliminated. The race ends when the player in 2nd (and last) place is eliminated. The driver in 1st place is the winner.

Head To Head

The player and one other opponent compete for first place in a straight one-on-one race. These events are normally shorter, only 1-2 laps. All other standard race rules apply.

Autocross

During this solo event, the player must traverse a difficult section of track in the fastest time possible. This time is then compared to others attempts.

Endurance

In this mode, the player drives the farthest they can in the time available. The clock starts at a pre-defined time and counts down. Opponents appear around the track and the player must overtake them for a time bonus. The player also receives a time bonus on each lap completion. When the time runs out, the players car will stop accelerating and coast to a standstill. The distance recorded when the car reaches a stop will be the distance recorded for the event, and the metric by which the player is ranked against others.

Speed Record

Essentially, the player is competing to get the highest top speed over the course of a single lap. For example, if they reach 128mph at some point, this speed becomes their Speed Record. If they then attain a higher speed further along the track, this new top speed becomes the Speed Record.

Speed Snap

During this solo event, the player must traverse a pre-defined section of track which culminates in a finish line. The speed the player was travelling at when reaching the finishing line is recorded. This speed is then compared to other players attempts.

Drag Race

The controls require you to launch the car and then change gears in the optimal shift zone - just before the tachometer hits the red line. Players will receive different feedback on each gear change based on whether they managed to shift up within the optimal zone.

Drag races have 3 rounds:

Round 1 - winning this earns the player a Bronze trophy.

Round 2 - winning this earns the player a Silver trophy.

Round 3 - winning this earns the player a Gold trophy.

Failing to win any of the rounds ends the event.

Hunter

This solo event involves chasing down a hunted car and attempting to overtake them. The outcome is determined by your position relative to the hunted car when you cross the finish line. If your distance score is higher than any other competitor's, you win.

Time Trial

This solo event pits you against yourself, your Friends and the world. With a rolling start, complete a single lap in the fastest time you can. Once you've set a time, if you're online it will be uploaded to the global leaderboards. Depending on your performance you will be placed in one of the Groups, with each Group representing a different percentage of the leaderboard entries. Moving up a Group earns you bonus R$. You can also compare your result against those of your Friends.

Your best lap is recorded and played back as a "ghost" for you to compare your current lap against. Additionally, a continuous split time is displayed on the HUD so you have a constant real-time comparison of your current lap time against your personal best.

Each Time Trial costs you 1 Drive. Drive regenerates over time, and it can be instantly refilled using Gold. As you gain Player Levels you unlock upgrades to your maximum Drive, which can be purchased with Gold.

Winnings

After completing a race you will receive rewards based on your performance. The higher your placing, the better the reward. You will receive R$ or M$, depending on the car used, which can be used to buy new cars/upgrades. Youll also receive Fame which goes towards your Player Level (reaching new levels gives you Gold). Race against your friends for even more rewards!

Daily Rewards

Real Racing 3 features Daily Rewards, which award you extra R$ and Gold each day. The more consecutive days you play, the greater your Daily Rewards are.

Round Hub

Round Hub

The Round Hub is where a variety of ever-changing content can be found. Participating in these events can earn you currency, Victory Points (VP), and new cars for your garage.

Weekly Time Trial Tournaments

The Weekly Time Trial functions similarly to Time Trials, but it does not disqualify players for going off-track. After completing a lap, the player's recorded time is ranked on a global leaderboard. Players may continually attempt to better their aggregate time up till the end of the tournament, at which time they are rewarded based on their leaderboard ranking. The higher up the leaderboard, the greater the reward.

Every week there is a new Weekly Time Trial event featuring a selection of cars and a different track. At least one car will be available on loan if the player doesn't already own that car.

There are time penalties for going off-track, going off-track continuously and for wall collisions. The time penalty amount appears on the Time Penalty HUD, and it is also applied to the lap time during the race. If you have received a time penalty it will appear as an '!' on the HUD, which also indicates that the time split will be later affected by the penalty in the post-race screen. The player's final recorded time includes the total accrued time penalty, it is also shown on the post-race screen in red text.

Time Trial Competitions

Time Trial Competitions are similar to Weekly Time Trials, though they often last longer than a week, and will occasionally give exclusive rewards like new liveries.

Limited Series

Limited Series feature a single car, which can be earned by winning all events within the series. As the name suggests, you only have a limited amount of time to complete them, so youll have to act quickly!

Special Events

Like Limited Series, Special Events feature a car, or sometimes a group of cars that you can choose from, that can be earned by completing the event. They include unique challenges and a story that will unfold as you progress through the event. Some of these events will require you to upgrade the featured car in order to complete them, whereas others will only have a Recommended PR suggestion for each goal. Each Special Event is split up into Stages, and rewards can be earned every time one of these Stages is completed.

Victory Points

Victory Points (VP) can be earned for participating in any of the content within the Round Hub. Earning enough VP will grant you exclusive rewards, such as currency, liveries, and even new cars. These rewards can all be viewed in the Round Rewards screen, located in the Round Hub.

Ending and Expiring Rounds

Once a Round ends, events within it will become inaccessible, unless you own the car within the event. Note that if the Round ends while you have an event in progress, and there is still time for you to earn the car reward for that event, then the event will remain accessible until the time runs out for you to earn the car.

Eventually, a Round will completely expire. Once this happens you will not be able to access it anymore. However, any rewards you have earned but not claimed within the Round will be automatically awarded to you.

Customization

Real Racing 3 includes extensive customization features that allow you to greatly personalize the appearance of your cars. The customizable categories are Paint, Vinyls, Rims and Ride Height.

Some Customization items must be unlocked before you can apply them to your cars. You must reach a specific Player Level to unlock some items, while others require that your Garage Value exceed a specific value. Purchasing and upgrading cars is a good way to increase your Garage Value. Note that customization items purchased also increase your Garage Value.

Each car is customized individually each customization item you buy can only be used on the car you purchase it for. Some car rims can be earned as Round Rewards, and can be applied to all cars that support rim customization. All customization items do not affect car performance.

Paint

The Paint category allows you to respray your car in a multitude of paint finishes and colors. You must purchase a paint color before you can apply it to a car. Paint colours are purchased individually. After buying a paint color, you may re-apply it to that car as many times as you want for free. Purchased paint colors are car-specific and cannot be shared between cars.

Vinyls

The Vinyls section allows you to apply vinyls to your car. The vinyls range from basic shapes to complex gradients and also allow scaling, rotation and coloring, giving you the ability to greatly modify the look of your car. Vinyls are organized into numerous different themed packs. Buying a pack gives you access to all vinyls contained in that pack, and the vinyls contained in it can be applied as many times as you like at no cost. Purchased vinyl packs are car-specific and are not shared between cars.

To apply vinyls, select a purchased pack to display all the vinyl shapes in it. Tap on a shape to transfer it to your car, or drag it from the vinyls panel to place it on your car. The vinyl will appear on your car with a transformation widget around it. Tap and drag within the widget to move the vinyl. To rotate or scale the vinyl, tap and drag from the circle button on the widget. Dragging away from the vinyl will scale it up while dragging towards the vinyl will scale it down. Drag around the vinyl to rotate it.

If you would like to change the vinyl color, open the Colors Panel on the right and make your selection. Once you are happy with the look and positioning of your vinyl, tap on the Tick button on the transformation widget to apply the vinyl. You can also tap anywhere outside the transformation widget to accept the changes to the vinyl.

To get more precise views of the car, you may use the preset cameras provided. Tap on the Preset Camera button on the Toolbar to cycle between views of your car (side, front, back and top views).

Vinyl Transfer Modes

Once you are familiar with applying vinyls, you may wish to explore more advanced vinyl transfer techniques. There are two special modes which you can enable via the Toolbar at the top of the screen.

Mirror Mode

This will duplicate your current active vinyl onto the other side of the car, making both sides of the car symmetrical. This makes it easy to create the exact same design on both sides of the car. The mirrored vinyl is linked to the first one and cannot be modified separately. Removing the first vinyl will also delete the mirrored vinyl.

Paint Through Mode

This mode will apply the vinyl on all surfaces behind the vinyl, even surfaces on the other side of the car. A good way to visualize how this works is to imagine that the car is made of glass and you are shining a torchlight (which has a vinyl shaped beam) through it. Any paintable surface of the car which the beam touches will then have the vinyl applied to it.

Each new vinyl applied will lay on top of vinyls that were added before it. If you would like to reorganize the layering of vinyls, you may use the Layer Panel on the left. Tap the Layer Panel button once to open it, then hold and drag vinyl layers to reorganize them.

If you would like to remove vinyls, simply drag them off the car. You can also delete vinyls by dragging the vinyl layer off the Layers Panel.

Rims

If you would like to change the rims of your car, enter the Rims section. Some types of Rims are locked according to Player Level and others based on Garage Value. Once a rims category is unlocked, you can purchase rims from within it and fit them to your car. Rims are purchased individually, and purchased rims are car-specific and cannot be shared between cars. Rims earned through Round Rewards can be added to all cars that support rim customization.

Ride Height

The Ride Height category allows you to raise or lower the suspension of your car, with front and rear controlled independently. After unlocking and purchasing the Ride Height category, you may customize the Ride Height for that car. The Ride Height does not affect performance in any way. You will have to purchase the Ride Height customization type for each car individually it is not shared.

Crew

Crew Members

Crew are specialists that can be hired to activate bonuses for the next race. Their special ability is only triggered if the player wins the race.

The crew available for hire are:

Manager - Earn double R$

Agent - Get double Fame

Auto Engineer - Car condition will not degrade

Crew are only available once the players Garage Value has increased enough to attract their interest.

Crew members start out as Amateurs and can only be hired in Amateur level Series. To hire them in more advanced Series, they need to be levelled up by increasing the players Garage Value.

Crew Members will occasionally become available to hire for free. Once you've used their bonus it will take a short while before they offer their services for free again. Winning races makes Crew members pay more attention to you and offer free services more frequently.

Note that you can pay Gold to hire a Crew Member at any time.

Garage Value

This is the total value of a players cars and upgrades, whether purchased through R$, M$ or Gold. The Garage Value can be increased by upgrading or purchasing cars.

You can view your Garage Value by checking your profile at the top left of the home page.

Multiplayer

Online Multiplayer

Online Multiplayer is a weekly tournament that pits up to 8 competitors against one another in exciting real-time races.

For the best Online Multiplayer experience, the use of a Wifi connection is recommended.

How Online Multiplayer Works

Every week, a new Online Multiplayer tournament begins with a different selection of cars, and every day, 3 tracks are selected and are cycled on a regular basis. You receive a rating based on how well you perform during the active tournament. Improve your rating over multiple races to increase your final Gold reward at the end of the tournament.

Racing

To start racing, navigate to the Online Multiplayer menu and tap on the menu card. When you first enter a new tournament your rating will not yet be determined. You will need to participate in at least one Online Multiplayer race to receive a rating for a reward at the end of the tournament. Tap the menu card again to enter the tournament.

Once you have entered you will be presented with a selection of cars that are available for that race. At least one car will be available on loan if you don't already own it. From here you can also select INVITE to start a private race with up to 7 friends from your friends list. Note that friends must have notifications enabled for their game to receive an invite and after the race your ratings will not change.

Choose your car and select GO to enter the matchmaking screen. Here the server will attempt to match you with similar opponents. You can cancel at any time in the matchmaking screen and doing so will not affect your rating. Once you have been matched, you will be loaded into the race.

The race begins with all opponents being reverse sorted by rating on the grid. During the race there are speed penalties for going off-track and for corner cutting, which are applied when returning to the track, and a wall collision penalty which is applied immediately. You cannot pause the game and it will continue to run in the background even with the pause menu open.

Please note, if you decide to exit anytime during the race you will be recorded as a DNF (Did Not Finish) and your rating might drop as a result. The race ends after everyone has crossed the finish line, or after the 60 second count down timer which starts when at least one player has completed the race. Any players who have not completed the race will be considered DNF.

After completing the race, you can review the race results, and Service or Upgrade your car. From the Upgrades screen you have the option to EXIT or to RACE again. Racing again will bring up the matchmaking screen to match you against new opponents based on your rating.

Rating And Rewards

At the end of each race, you will be rated on your performance versus your opponents. Beating players will increase your rating, while losing will decrease it. If you beat higher rated players, your own rating will increase greatly; conversely, if you lose to a lower rated player, your rating will greatly decrease. Note that you do not have to win the race for your rating to increase.

Upon completion of an Online Multiplayer event, you will be ranked on the global Online Multiplayer leaderboard, where you can compare your rating with players from all over the world. At the end of a tournament week, all participating players will receive a Gold reward based on their rating.

Time Shifted Multiplayer

Race anyone, anytime using Time Shifted Multiplayer (TSM). Real Racing 3 fills every event with real players, including your Friends. Racing and beating your friends earns you R$ rewards. With TSM, friends dont even have to be online at the same time to compete. They can race one day, and you can beat them the next day.

How TSM Works

When you race another player you are competing against their fully interactive time-shifted double, which emulates their performance and skill. Given identical conditions, this time-shifted double will achieve the same race time. However, every race day is different you decide the outcome.

Friends

You can sign in to your social network accounts from the Settings menu. Invite your friends to race via TSM by tapping the “Invite” button on the Main Menu.
